4.5/5 Stars: Wooded Chardonnay 2005
Subtle oak balance and integration; in the opposite direction to the unwooded version, seemingly with lower alcohol (it’s higher) with elegant stone fruit and some cashew. Screwcap, 13.5% alc. RATING 90 DRINK 2010 $20

4/5 Stars Riesling 2005
Generous, sweet lime juice; open and inviting; good finish. Screwcap, 11.7% alc. RATING 89 DRINK 2008 $18

4/5 Stars Pinot Noir 2004

4/5 Stars Unwooded Chardonnay 2005
Riper flavours than the restrained bouquet would suggest, with yellow peach and fig fruit. Screwcap, 12.3% alc. RATING 87 DRINK 2008 $18

Go organic with Banalasta – it’s natural

Banalasta, local pioneer of producing medicinally based organic eucalyptus products launches six new skin care products containing pure eucalyptus oil, Joint and Muscle Balm, Chest Rub, Skin Care Soap, Vitamin E and Hand and Nail Creams.

“We are very excited and proud of our new packaging and products,” said Rolf Blickling founding owner and managing director of Banalasta Pty Ltd, to a group of buyers, the first to witness the new launch unveiling last Friday.

Super-healing and sweetly scented certified organic eucalyptus radiata (Australiana) leaf oil is at the heart of the new product range, while their lavender oil (intermedia grosso) complements by calming and balancing the skin. Both oils are grown, harvested and distilled on the Banalasta property.

“These products are examples of how our essential oils can be used in creative and innovative skin care formulations that actually assist to heal the skin and body,” said Blickling. “The greater the benefits of our eucalyptus and lavender oils are researched, the more we learn about how to formulate products to address the body’s needs. What’s more our products are not just made for women; they can be used by the whole family, men and children.”

Where possible, Banalasta implements substitution plan that replace chemicals of concern with safer alternatives.

“We are not here to produce another beauty range, like our consumers we are dedicated to questioning what ingredients we put in our products and therefore on our bodies. Our new products are more therapeutic than beauty driven, they help with the small ailments of everyday life and therefore answer a need in the market for effective home healing aid,” Blickling added.

“We want to be informed and we want to inform our consumers, with safer alternatives, based on recommendations from our manufacturer.”

Banalasta is all too aware that the entire planet is becoming conscious of the importance and benefits of organic farming and its by-products, primarily for health improvements, be that fresh produce or topical treatments. Industry theme words of ‘natural’, ‘hypo allergenic’ and ‘organic’ are misconceptions and used way too often to grab consumers attentions.

Natural can often mean as little as one natural ingredient and organic can mean as little as 15% organic content. Arguably there exists a grey area.

However, Banalasta believes that if the origins of the ingredients are from a plant source, and if the process of manufacturing the ingredients does not use toxic chemicals or catalysts, then the ingredient is suitable to be termed ‘natural’.

Products are now available at Banalasta Visitor Centre and are currently being distributed into pharmacies throughout Australia. For more information, visit www.banalasta.com.au
