Wine Trails of the Country Way
Blickling Estate is one of the highest altitude vineyards in Australia, which means the ripening process is slower, giving the wine a fuller and fruiter flavour.
There are six varieties of distinctive and high quality wines – riesling, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and pinot noir, produced under the Blickling label.
Also on the property is banalasta, the world’s largest Eucalyptus radiata Australiana Oil Plantation with approx 1 million trees.
Banalasta’s new visitor centre makes this an appealing stop for the New England Highway traveller. After an informative tour through the old distillery, the lavender fields and the grapevines you can taste some wines at the cellar door, enjoy a coffee or a selection of teas, and baked goodies at the cafe.
Blickling’s wines, and Banalasta’s range of skin care, cosmetic and therapeutic products are available to buy.
The cafe overlooks a sample of the World Forest 2000 Foundation.
