Thursday, November 22nd, 2007Every 1st Sunday of the month, the Visitor Centre hosts FREE live music……..Lawrie Minson and Ted Tilbrook, Tamworth’s esteemed musical artists will be playing at Banalasta, on Sunday 2 December 12-3pm.
Multi-instrumentalist from Tamworth, Lawrie is a 4 time Golden Guitar winner and is the son of legendary radio broadcaster ‘Mr Hoedown’, John Minson. Lawrie has recorded and toured with the biggest names in the industry, Buddy Williams, Slim Dusty, Jimmy Barnes, James Blundell, Gina Jeffreys, Sara Storer, Ross Wilson and Trisha Yearwood, to name a few! Lawrie has played on all of lee Kernaghan’s albums and has now been a member of his touring band for the past 14 years. Lawrie has also produced 2 albums for India’s only country artist, Bobby Cash.
Lawrie hosts a monthly country songwriter’s night in Tamworth and the Hohner Golden Harmonica championships every January.
He has released several award winning albums including ‘Memories of Home’, ‘Family Tree’ and ‘In Another World’.
Ted Tilbrook hails from Boulder, WA and moved to Tamworth in 1979, and joined the Hired Hands with Lawrie. With over 40 years of playing, Ted has worked in bands such as Back Porch Pickers and northern rivers stars Jane Saunders and Greg Champion.
Ted has developed a reputation of being a faithful interpreter of artists such as Willie Nelson, Neil Young and Bob Dylan and also has a steadily increasing bag of original songs. He has been working in the Tamworth area with Lawrie for the past 5 years.
